About Fred and Jeff

Fred

With over 8 years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Rifle and Pistol Primary Marksmanship Instructor and Coach, I’ve dedicated my life to firearms safety, youth mentorship, and outdoor education. I serve as a certified Trapping Instructor for Idaho Fish and Game and have proudly led the Central Idaho Rod and Gun Club’s free youth shoots for the past 15 years. I’m also the Rangemaster and Coach for small-bore rifle and trap shooting with Idaho District 1 High School Rodeo. As a co-founder of the Challis Idaho Youth Bird Dog Association, I help organize our annual youth pheasant hunt and shotgun skills courses, passing on a love for the outdoors and responsible gun handling to the next generation.

I am a retired Army veteran and now enjoy training and working gundogs. I like being able to provide kids the opportunity to watch and hunt over these trained dogs to hopefully plant a seed to want to get involved or at least help educate them on the different types of gundogs and how they can be useful in hunting birds or tracking wounded big game. I currently own a Field Line Golden Retriever and two Large Munsterlanders one of which currently holds a record in the United States for her breed.

Now together, after over a decade, we have grown to a non-profit organization providing free shotgun clinics and the free hunt to kids allowing them to have a chance that most kids will not get in their life. With our military experience of running ranges and hunting we are able to provide a very safe environment for youth to learn and enjoy these events.
